Transcript for "What’s New in Spotfire® 14.7: Smarter visuals, faster decisions": Hello, everyone, and welcome to today's webinar. What's new in Spotfire 14.7, Spotfire Visuals, Faster Decisions. We're thrilled to have you with us today. I'm Jean-Philippe Richard-Charman, and I'll be your host for today's session. Now before we get started, I just wanted to cover a few housekeeping items to ensure you have the best experience during today's webinar. Today's webinar will last up to thirty minutes with a q and a, segment that will be hand held at the end of the presentation. Now if you have any questions during the presentation, please do not hesitate to use the q and a panel located on the right side of your screen, and we'll address as more questions as we can during the q and a segment at the end. Additionally, after today's session, a recording of today's webinar will be made available on demand, and we'll email you the link shortly after the event. Now with that, let's dive right in. I'm excited to introduce our presenter today, Arnaud Varin, our principal product manager here at Spotfire, who will be going through the latest enhancements as well as, touching on new features part of the fourteen dot seven innovation release. Now with that, I'll hand over to Abdul. Thanks, JP. Welcome, everyone. Before diving into new features and Spotfire 14.7, I think it's always good to restate our product's core identity. Spotfire is the visual data science platform for scientists and engineers. We combine advanced analytics with highly domain specific visuals to solve complex problems, and everything you see today reinforces this mission. Our long term product vision remains consistent. Spotfire should be the ultimate analytics platform for technical users, for scientists and engineers. That means strong visual driven exploration, industry focused workflows, and scalable enterprise foundation. And the Spotfire 14.7 release strengthens each of these pillars. We continue to enhance Spotfire Analytics and Spotfire Data Science, our new offering, while ensuring frictionless deployment and governance through Spotfire Enterprise. And today's content touches all three parts of the platform with a focus on sharper visual analytics, smoother authoring workflows, and simpler enterprise governance. A quick reminder on the our release cycle. 14.6 is our current long term support release, supported for four years. And the upcoming Spotfire 14.7 is an innovation release built to deliver incremental improvements between LTS milestones. Spotfire 14.7 is due for release anytime now, or maybe later this week, at least in the next coming days. And in addition to the product release cycle, we also continuously ship value enhancements with new visualizations, actions, data functions, and demos that we release outside of the product release cycle as add ons or through service packs. Let's start with Spotfire Analytics. In 14.7, we deliver sharper visual experiences and a more intuitive authoring workflow, especially around box plots, line charts, and the new authoring experiences. All data points in box plots. This one is probably the most requested capability for the box plot. The box plot can now display every underlying data point. So instead of switching between a box plot for summary statistics and the scatter plot, you can now get statistical summaries and the raw data in one single visualization. I think it's great for scientific, manufacturing, and regulatory use cases where transparency matters. Every point is visible, selectable, and interactive. You just go to the appearance menu on the box plot and enable displaying all data points here. So you have the choice between displaying all data points or only outliers data points. With 14.7, line charts and combination charts support a vertical orientation, And this aligns with workflows where depth or height is the key dimension. Think drilling profiles, geological samples, atmospheric data, or any vertical process measurements. And the feature supports all existing capabilities of the line charts and combination charts, splits, multiple scales, markers, the new reference elements feature, step lines, everything. You just go to the Appearance menu of your line chart or combination chart and enable horizontal orientation. We continue to evolve the new Visualization Properties panel. In 14.7, we improved map charts image layer configuration, and we improved many areas, many usability areas of the new experience. And now we think this new experience for authoring visualizations is getting closer to becoming the default long term. That's not the case yet in this release. The default experience is still the classic properties, but we are looking to change the experience default soon. And that's why we are now adding the ability for users and administrators to choose which properties interface opens by default, either the new contextual panel or the classic properties dialogue. And we think this will help organizations adopt the new experience at their own pace. In 14.7, we are adding a small but impactful improvement to the data in analysis fly out. It now remembers whether you last used recommendations or the detailed view with column properties. So for authors who frequently configure column metadata and properties, the fly out now simply reopens in the modes they use most. And this improvement is also made available to 14.6 LTS users as part of the 14.6.1 service pack we recently released. And this is part of the new workflow for managing column properties that we introduced earlier this year. And for that, we have published a community article which explains, how different tasks are now done in Spotfire and the benefits of the new workflow for managing column properties. You see the article here. You just just search for column properties in the community here. And there we explained why the workflow changed, the many the many benefits of it. It's faster, more logical. And we are also adding videos, short videos explaining how to do stuff in Spotfire for managing column properties, like how to view and and and manage column properties, how to edit formatting, how to insert new columns now, how do I find inserted columns. And we will continue to update this article as we update Spotfire and this new column properties experience. Another workflow change in this release is data table properties. Data table properties now live fully inside the data canvas. So instead of the old classic standalone dialog, everything table statistics, table lists, data tables relations, tables metadata and properties they are now all accessed through the data canvas. And this makes the data canvas the central hub for understanding and managing tables. And same as for column properties, right after the release of 14.7, we will publish an article in the community to explain the new workflow. In Spotfire 14.6 LTS released a few weeks back, we launched a new dynamic welcome page for users to learn about new features, changes of workflows, to let them access training, events, demos. And in 14.7, we are adding a new learn and discover fly out so that users can access that information at any time without having to close the analysis just by clicking this button here. And the goal, of course, here is to better support our users' onboarding and to provide them with educations on how to use the product and how to leverage the latest features we provide. Spotfire 14.7 also includes a fully modernized data connector prompting experience. Creating and managing prompts is now more intuitive, fully web based, and it supports advanced prompts, like prompts, groups, and optional prompts. And this is valuable for governed, parameterized data access. As always, we also improved our connectors capabilities. The DB2 connector now supports OAuth SSO with modernized UIs across web and desktop. And we now ship a dedicated Databricks connector with native catalog and schema browsing. And this lays out the foundation for deeper Databricks specific features in the future. Now about mods. And this is quite a huge step forward for developers and ultimately end users. Mods can now use multiple independent data views within one single visualization. That means composite visuals, mixed chart types, or domain specific charts like this network chart here that draws nodes and edges from separate tables are now possible, all without having to prepare the data before, without having to do manual adjoins to make it work. And we believe that this will unlock a new generation of custom visualizations for Spotfire, so stay tuned in this area. That was what's new for Spotfire Analytics. Now let's move to Spotfire Data Science. The focus here is on clarity, trust, and domain specific visual content. We released reference elements in 14.6 LTS as a way to enrich visualizations with data driven lines, bends, areas, boxes, and markers for additional context, benchmark, and insights in visualizations. And in Spotfire 14.7, we are adding support for legends to make these reference elements even easier to interpret, identify with a styling that matches, the visual, as you can see here. Legends for reference elements improved their clarity and supports for more self explanatory analytics. And with that, we are also adding support for tooltips for reference elements. Users can hover to see thresholds, rule names, calculated values. And tooltips turns reference elements from static lines or bends into interactive explanations that shows the why behind the benchmark. We are also adding new specialized visualizations in Spotfire in the form of add ons. First with the OEE KPI visualization, it displays availability, performance, quality and overall OEE with the option to add additional KPIs. And this is directly aimed at manufacturing customers who rely heavily on OEE dashboards today. The three d surface and line chart will also receive a substantial upgrade, better axes in visual sliders, for focusing on regions of interest, a new plane layer type for geological and structural data, and also sharper readability with improved lighting and marker scaling. And this update will be valuable for upstream energy and all subsurface workflows you may have. In this release, we have also improved transparency for built in data functions. Spotfire now surfaces warnings for invalid geometries and unnecessary coordinate system transformations when you use when using spatial functions. It also shows warning, for automatic smoothing adjustments when using time series functions. And we think this helps users better trust their results and avoid silent errors. Finally, let's look at Spotfire Enterprise, where we focus on governance, trust, and operational simplicity. Mods. Here now in this release, administrators can now resign mods centrally using a single controlled signature. And this simplifies moving mods between development, test, and projection environments. And we think it's quite a big improvement for enterprise governance, as it means no more need for juggling between certificates or having to manage cross server trust setups. Also in fourteen point seven, information services drivers management is now managed, from the Web Admin UI. So administrators can deploy, update JDBC drivers without having to touch the server, without having to use commands, and without the need for high level access rights. This is less friction, improved security, and simplification of operational workflows. And that's what I had for this new release, but we are 14.7, which we expect to be released in the next coming days. Thanks for listening. Jean-Philippe wanted to share a few more about upcoming webinars and content. Beautiful. Thank you very much, Arnaud, and thank you for that insightful presentation.
